The Mark Of Success

MerlinAnother wonder free kick from James Tavernier won three valuable points for Rangers – and shot new boss Mark Warburton into the record books.

Warburton is now the first manager since Bill Struth to steer Rangers to victory in his first six games.

It has to be said that Rangers did make heavy work of the encounter. The pace was a bit slow at times and Hibs kept the Ibrox men to a stuffy style of play. Once again, poor finishing cost the Easter Road side any spoils from the game but overall, the men in blue were worthy of their win.

That win came courtesy of a fabulous free kick out on the left wing which Tavernier landed neatly but powerfully just inside the frame and over Hibs’ keeper Oxley. Tavernier’s strike capped another fine performance by the man who has come to embody and epitomise Rangers under Mark Warburton. Young Barrie McKay was another who impressed and if the boy can add an end product to his skillset, he will be a hot prospect in a couple of years.

Defensive frailties were blatantly obvious and better, sharper forwards can and will punish the Ibrox side for these. Danny Wilson has not yet assumed a commanding position at the heart of Rangers’ defence and Kiernan is just not at this level.

It could be claimed that the important thing is the result and Rangers certainly finished with energy, seeing out the game despite a determined onslaught from Hibs. Funnily enough, the game was an advert for the one thing both sides sorely lack – an out-and-out proven goalscorer. The two combatants have players who can score goals but don’t have a predator striker. Kenny Miller is arguably a player whose remaining contribution is as an impact player coming off the bench; he is no longer the lethal centre forward who terrorised Scottish defences.

warburton_2381116aThis game was an acid test of Rangers’ progress under Warburton and it was one which showed that, while the football has improved enormously under the Englishman’s leadership, there is still a fair way to go before Rangers can re-enter the top flight in a confident manner. The attacking philosophy is thrilling and refreshing but with weaknesses in defence, it could result in some heavy beatings from canny opponents.

The real challenge for Mark Warburton and Davie Weir will be one of complacency. Thinking all you have to do is turn up has been the undoing of many great sides and the 2Ws will have to keep the work ethic at the level it has been.

Rangers emerged from the first league encounter with their main rivals for the Championship as clear favourites for the title. But we haven’t really seen this side or the manager endure any real adversity yet. Nonetheless, it would be a real glass half-empty type of Rangers supporter who would not be very satisfied with what is happening pitch-side with The Rangers these days.

Warburton’s first six wins may not have the same significance as Bill Struth’s. Conceivably, they may mean even more. But one thing is certain.

Developing a winning habit is the mark of success in football.

And nobody can say Mark Warburton is failing to deliver there.

There is always room for improvement but Rangers under Warburton are already light years ahead of the sorry state of the team in previous years.

It’s been all over the msm and tv and strange thing is police wouldn’t tell his lawyers what they wanted too see him about. They have till 9 pm, too either charge and arrest him or let him go.Unless they apply for an extension and it is granted. Worrying times indeed but one of those things to bring us back too reality with being so happy with way team is doing under W & W

    Keep The Customer Satisfied

“Gee, but it’s great to be back home, home is where I want to be………..” sang Simon and Garfunkel on their best selling Bridge Over Troubled Water album of 1970 and these past few months it seems that not only is this particular song title appropriate to describe Rangers FC team performance this season but also the first two lines of it definitely apply to my good wife and I as we seem to have been on the road so to speak since July!

What started out as a few weeks of family gatherings, christenings, milestone birthdays (the oldies are getting older!) and a wedding in sunny Devon we found ourselves almost “on tour” as the weeks elapsed culminating eventually as we made our way north again for a fabulous two weeks in Newcastle with relatives taking in the Newcastle United Vs Arsenal game on Saturday (light years ahead of anything we have in Scotland!) just to round things off.

But it is nice to be back home and familiar surroundings, bills, garden overgrown, grandchildren looking for back pocket money etc!

However even better has been the visible transformation of Rangers under new manager Mark Warburton (best thing since sliced bread!) and his able assistant Davie Weir in such a short time, a mere few weeks.

While I was “on tour” I kept up with events as Mark re-built Rangers to such an extent that after such a short period they are now unrecognisable to the dreadful multi-expensive bunch Ally McCoist assembled over the past dreadful and wasted three years.

Mark’s mantra of “send the fans home happy” is clearly working hence my “Keep The Customer Satisfied” headline!

Let’s be clear here Ally McCoist was given multi-millions to spend by the boards of Rangers FC between the summer of 2012 and 2014, not one of the board members told Ally McCoist what players to buy and how much to spend, Ally McCoist had a huge budget and it was his call who he brought in, he had a free hand to do what he liked, an open cheque book basically.

As we now know he made a complete mess of this culminating in Rangers being unable to match and sometimes even beat part-time teams and the final wasted season when even promotion was denied despite such vast financial outgoings and instead of being challenging for the SPFL title this season (and every other season) we’re stuck for another season in a lower division.

But every cloud has a silver lining and it is Mark Warburton and his ability as a true football individual to re-shape, re-build Rangers into a team capable of not only challenging and winning the Championship title this season but also has returned Rangers to the club they used to be post Ally McCoist and post administration i.e. a vibrant, skilled, organised, delight to watch, thrashing all they play regardless of capability, pitch make-up or strengths and an individual who will speak up for Rangers as he’s already shown.

Mark Warburton can clearly spot football talent and nurture it, he isn’t afraid to play teenagers if he thinks they’re good enough and it shows, when did the Rangers support last wait eagerly for the next game to come along to see Tavernier, Oduwa, Zalelma (what players!) and co in action?

From what I’ve seen so far Mark Warburton’s Rangers are the real deal, they attack, they play with style, players cast out to “loan deals” now return with new energy (Barry McKay), better coaching, fitter, leaner, comfortable on the ball and oh boy what panache they display no matter the opposition, this is not just a new Rangers team, this is the Rangers 140+ years we through the generations have grown to adore and support. This IS Rangers as they should be and were pre-2012!

No longer a soft touch, no longer anybody’s to smear and make fun of, this is a Rangers team to be feared at last.

And Mark Warburton has done this in weeks not years and I fully expect he’ll take this Rangers team to greater heights in the seasons ahead that is I assume if the board can hold on to him as his exploits will be being carefully watched down south by many English clubs with possibly Tottenham a front runner for his services at some stage.

The positives are all there and I fully expect this Rangers team to be a force although let’s not get too carried away just enjoy what we have for the moment and to quote the old adage “take each game as it comes” no matter the opposition.

Like many Rangers supporters I can’t wait for the next game and given my “on tour” status of the past weeks it’ll be a joy to see Rangers vs Raith Rovers this weekend.

On a slightly different but related note (no not the ongoing down sizing and issues surrounding the ever weakening CFC, that’s for another day!) whilst I fully agree with the Rangers board decision to distance themselves from the BBC McLaughlin (now reinstated) and Speirs I believe it would be prudent for the Rangers board to take similar action and distance themselves from Messrs Graham, Houston, Dingwall and “Bomber” Brown.

If Mark Warburton has cleared out the dead wood in the playing staff and continues to re-organise his backroom team then similar action should be taken to clear out these failed “alleged Rangers men” whose only desire is self publication with not an ounce of value add. Look at what Mark Warburton has achieved in weeks, the Rangers board should be matching his actions and making sweeping changes within the business operations of Rangers to make sure that no longer do we have to watch and listen to the ongoing drivel spouted by those who Rangers can well do without.

If real progress is to be made and enjoyed on and off the pitch then a similar Mark Warburton revolution has to take place behind the business scene and remove from Rangers once and for all those who are only in it for themselves, if the Rangers board can take the necessary action with the BBC and apparently succeed then it should be a simple task to do likewise with those who contribute nothing to the wellbeing, image and future prospects of Rangers FC on and off the field.

    1. Gordo my good friend, normally I do not do ”Blue on Blue” but when someone claims that Ibrox is not owned by Rangers but is in fact rented out and leased back, that the assets were actually ”flipped” and that Deloitte are involved in an accounting creative trick when producing Rangers accounts I believe that needs challenged my friend. There are enough rumours about Rangers in the public without countenancing such nonsense on a Rangers forum. I believe until people cease from creating their own theories and passing them off as the truth then these rumours and theories need challenged.

      1. John,
People creating their own theories is fine by me, it’s when they use and advance the theories and rumours of our haters on this blog I dislike. Keep up the good work.

      2. John

I do agree there needs to be challenges to things, sadly by not challenging things in the past we ended up in the situation we did. I stated a couple of seasons ago that thanks to all of the goings on we had forgotten how to be football fans and I stand by that statement……my hopes were that we were getting back to being those football fans again and I think we are 🙂

I appreciate the need for clarity and above all vigilance, especially where our incumbent board are concerned so can see why we need to keep probing and picking….it just seems to get a bit personal at times….these are theories and assumptions…..clarity comes when there are outcomes and that’s when we need to get on top of things. No way condoning the great work and extensive investigations conducted by yourself JJ and several other invaluable posters….so much info for mere ‘footy fans’ to absorb, we don’t know the laws or most of the rules so find these discussions hard work.

I hope everyone continues to contribute…..we need clarity in all things…I mean that’s what our board promised us when they were first elected……can’t see any of it yet though from them which is more of a worry to me than anything.

        GSTQ

      3. PZJ: What about when someone claims we need £50 million investment and he will put up the lions share of £30 million and it never materialises or the loss of the NOMAD and the struggle to gain the ISDX entry ? We need your reasoned thoughts on these things also ! As a trusted source your importance in all things Rangers could bring clarity and maybe fan unity to the situation, because as an example I feel the following about the current incumbents, but would like to hear your view as you are more knowledgeable in these things ;

I feel Mr King has lied in regard to the NOMAD and promised investment and his TV interviews pre and post EGM prove this and I also fear he is trying to turn shares into the type that give Mr King two votes to the ordinary shareholders like the RST and RF one vote.

Furthermore the situation in my mind is that currently every season book holder ( Co Investor ) has invested more directly into the club than Mr King and the current board , in fact if you have only been to one game and bought a ticket a programme and a rising star you may have invested more directly to the club than Mr King and the board . The big difference is that we co investors are not getting monthly expenses that may be as high as £10,000 a month, should we put in our chit for our expenses also lol.

It is your clarity and honesty in things like this and the claims by our board that the loans are investment even though I feel they are not as they are being repaid with equity , also lets be honest , when Mr Gilligan has even claimed in the papers that all they have done is invest, including the shares they have bought from other shareholders, which to a layman like myself just sounds ridiculous. These things make fair minded fans worry about our future. Remember those fan groups now silent about this board were very vociferous about loans etc in regard to previous boards which does not help at all !

As always its good to read your thoughts and I hope you are keeping up the good fight with the EU appeal etc !

        Semper Paratus

    2. Gordo RFC,
I hope you enjoyed your holiday mate , but what I,ve been seeing recently is ‘blue on not so blue’ posts.

    3. Gordo,
Nice to see you back from holiday and hope you really enjoyed it too.Now back to see the Gers on their winning ways and long may it continue.

  4. Great win today…..QoS are a decent team and made to look very ordinary at times. Some nice passages of play and some great movement led to us creating a hat load of chances. Full credit to McKay who got MotM, not good enough for our team last season as we recall…..6wks to deliver something our ex management team could not muster in 3yrs 🙂

When you look back at this statement you will see just what Chuck Green had in mind for us….. sadly the knives were out as soon as it became clear there was no place for Charlie Dimmock and the ‘old school’ in the ‘Blueprint for the future’. Well done to W&W they have started us back on the road to something like we should be……. lest not forget some of the very good things people did when we were floundering badly, as this shows.

Thanks for adding that link as I’d never read it before or either my memory is worse than I thought. All very true and if it had been stuck too I wonder where we would have been now.Still great too see another large win again and one thing for sure is Mark tells it like it is and can still find faults even in that win.

    2. Good post Gordo !
I remember reading that article at the time. How right Charles was.
I was delighted by the performance today, and also the togetherness of the players.
I was even more delighted with the managers after match interview. He showed the class a Rangers manager should in such circumstances, particularly summation of the sending off. I will wager that no other Ranger will shove his face in an opponents again this season.

    3. Gordo,

Reading that article really does bring up tears of frustration…….three years of absolute shite from spongers and ‘advisors’ like McCoist, Smith, Brown, King, Mini-Me, Gough, Johnstone, etc

Walked past Ally McCoist in Glasgow town last week – outside Greaves sport shop. Fuckin’ anger and disgust came straight to me……….ashamed for myself for those thoughts coming up ? Yes. Completely. But this is what i had to try and rationalise, difficult as it was, and that rationalisation was that some really think they are bigger than the club.
We have been ‘played’ by our own. So, so sad.

      SS

    4. Hi Gordo, before Chuck Green we had PLG who given time , I think could have been a great manager , some of the football we played in European games were a joy to watch, but he was under minded by some “Rangers “men that did not want to adapt to his way of thinking. It was a way forward for us then to start thinking we were a European team and not just a Scottish football team.

Good result today, bet the Gers minus 2 goals at 3/1, as did a few friends, William Hill paid for day out today. If anyone fancies a wee wager to win the Scottish cup it is 14/1,worth a fiver

    5. Gordo RFC,
Yep it was another great win, in another game we dominated, on another plastic pitch which was used as an excuse, along with the wind and the rain and the fuckn waning moon by the last management team.Good point bringing up Green,s ‘Blueprint for the future’ as a lot of what was mentioned in it is now being put in place by W&W. Strange is it not that ‘the problem’ stated that this ‘Blueprint’ was drawn up by an electrician!!,

      1. Groovy

Had a great holiday thanks…..back to reality again though lol. I think the style of play we have adopted under W&W suits a good surface, even plastic is better than some quagmires we may encounter as the season unfolds and while not the greatest, should never have been used as an excuse for our misgivings. The great thing for us is that W&W stated that ALL teams from Youths up will play a style and brand of football that makes it easier to slot in and step up should the need arise. This is not revolutionary….its what Barca etc have been doing for a few years now, but what is revolutionary is that a team in Scotland adopting it and a team in Scotland with little resources (financially) making it their standard. Time will tell if it will work when finances are required to strengthen or enhance the current squad, which is an argument for another day.

The football is pleasing on the eye and effective, especially at that level, our first big test will be against St J in the cup. While not the best team in the Prem, they will be a test as they will be sharper and stronger in many aspects of the game to what we have played so far. People will only start taking us seriously when we start taking scalps and turning these teams over, that’s when people will start to worry about us so if we do remain unbeaten until that game and after it….. there will be fear amongst the ranks of the Prem Lge teams.

One of the big differences you will see this season is the freedom to express and the willingness for midfielders to go past the strikers, making us a hard team to defend against. Under the ‘Gardening Squad’… any defence on the planet could hold us, all they did was pass square and back then punt it up the park…. and why people were so sick of it….. the biggest punt and long ball against QoS was from corners…. the only balls lumped into the box came from corners. That’s very pleasing, not saying there are not times that is the right thing to do, as QoS proved for their goal, but our style now dictates we try, forward passes rather than lobbing bombs…. our possession stats prove that, 67% against QoS is impressive but what I found most impressive was that MOST of that possession was Mid – Forward thirds of the field…. unlike our previous management who wanted us to play along and back with no thought of creating a chance just lump it.

What is also very pleasing is that our young players, McKay, Aird etc are getting chances to play despite several very skilful loanee’s ….W&W see that these and the Halliday’s, Wilson etc of this world are our future. Our former management team used, abused and ruined several good young lads in their tenure…. so I was quite pleased to see Aird get a chance, by all accounts he has done well at full back and fits in well there with our wing back system, these are all very good things to be happening at this time…. sadly we have squandered millions of pounds and unrecoverable time pursuing something completely useless.

As Wally’s son mentioned above….. the man looks, talks and behaves like a real Rangers manager and his honesty re the sending off was a breath of fresh air and befitting of someone who speaks with knowledge and authority on the game, not simply bumping his gums because he likes the sound of his own voice and his bloated ego. I think the manager has behaved impeccably and really hope he is ALLOWED to continue in this manner, again time will tell when things start getting tougher and the honeymoon period is over…. that’s when the truth behind our Board and their sponsors will come out. Until then, enjoy the football and enjoy the good times we always used to take for granted….. we must not let things fall back to the old ways….. now we have a taste of the good life….. we must remain on top of our board to ensure we continue to progress, the truth will come out then and we will see what future really holds for us…… my hope is they really are playing things close to their chest for a reason….. not because what has been mooted is true.

  5. Last time Mr Brown ”there is no such thing as “mandatory” accounting practices. Accounting is an art not a science.

These are the words you stated.

Please read brother ” Sources of accounting requirements. There are both mandatory and advisory sources of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in the United Kingdom:

Do you see that phrase brother? There are both MANDATORY and ADVISORY sources of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in the United Kingdom:

I will let you seek the relevant places you will find that statement brother.

    1. http://www.iasplus.com/en-gb/jurisdictions/europe/uk 3 seconds with a google search…?

But “generally ” definition in dictionary is “in most cases; usually” – not always. “Mandatory – not always” two phrases that are mutually exclusive….

I never said your dissection of the enemies accounts were wrong – but that they (our enemy) were posting a positive spin which you undid by forensic analysis (a complement to you) ?

You are getting real silly so many posts – (PS: I do have financial credentials and qualifications). I don’t think an “electrics” course would accept me – as I would be deemed over-qualified. Enron lead to the Sarbanes Oxley act – which while an American act – had major repercutions in the UK – you know this?

Sarbanes is why we are currently struggling to get an auditor…. if all is well that would be easy for us. JJ says king is skint – whats your opinion on his ‘Plenipotentiaries’ tweet?

  6. Mr Brown are you an American?

“mandatory accounting practices ” – We saw with Enron there is no such thing as “mandatory” accounting practices. Accounting is an art not a science. Arthur Anderson the accounting firm lost most of its clients when it was charged with false accounting.

I have a feeling that what you accuse me off IE ”Copy and paste” you have indulged in yourself and pulled out a few American cases!!!

I do admit it is rather unfair to play with you my friend and I really should not be indulging in this 😉

  7. To Mr Brown the electricans apprentice

”’Your own dissection of our enemies accounts show that you have to read between the lines – no?

I posted this to you last week. Now Mr Brown I will ask you again which part is wrong? I have even attached CFC accounts for your perusal. And point you to pages to skip to. Now this time answer what was wrongly disected?

And please answer instead of quoting nonsense.

Attached is a copy of the very last audited accounts CFC brought out http://cdn.celticfc.net/assets/downloads/Celtic_Report_2014.pdf
Now when you say additional mortgages I presume you know what a mortgage is? Mortgage is a secured loan against property/assets.

Now for your information CFC have secured every asset they own (yes every asset) including cross guarantees between their subsidiaries and other companies within the PLC group.

Here they are below (charges against CFC)
    First is the stadium https://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/Purchase/ViewDocument/17695356
    Second is Lennoxtown https://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/Purchase/ViewDocument/17695174
    Third The Celtic Triangle https://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/Purchase/ViewDocument/17711975
    Fourth Westhorn https://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/Purchase/ViewDocument/17642527
And lastly land that was acquired from West Of Scotland Housing Association https://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/Purchase/ViewDocument/16640159

You will notice that the above secured charges covers everything that CFC have as an a asset.
But lets go further my friend. In the above accounts which I provided I want you to turn to page 52.
There you will see a heading ”Borrowings Group and Companies” You will also see the figure ”10.219 Million across from that.
Now that is the first figure I want you to bear in mind.

The second page I would like you to turn to is page 55. There you will see a heading ”Interest rate risk”
That section explains that the group and company working capital is largely funded by bank borrowings. The credit facility totals 32.44 million. That total is comprised of two term loans and a 12 million overdraft. One of them term loans the one I quoted earlier has been drawn down ”10.219 Million and the other half is a revolving facility and that explains why the working capital is largely funded by Bank Borrowings.

Now please note only half of the 20.44 Million can be used on a revolving basis as the other half already drawn down is now under the heading ”Borrowings Group and Companies”

The remainder of the 10.219 Million revolving is at it says in the section Interest rate risk is required to be drawn down for the term of the facility agreement and fully explains the working capital make up.
Now let me add one other thing. CFC also had an overdraft facility of 12 million. This my dear friend if you read very carefully in the same section was used to the tune of 11.28 Million.

You will read that in the same section under these words. ”During the course of the year the group had an average credit balance on the overdraft facility of 11.28 million”

  8. Can you fix the “Blog tags” display – shows to many of their words not ours

  11. ‘You are not just bigots, you are stupid bigots,’ judge tells Derry men who thought they were abusing an Orange parade only to discover it was the Salvation Army

Two Derry men who shouted sectarian abuse at a Salvation Army parade in the city were told by a judge that they were ‘not just bigots but stupid bigots’.

Stephen O’Reilly, 20, of Bloomfield Park in Galliagh, was charged with disorderly behaviour, assaulting and resisting police on June 6.

Lee Coyle, 19, also from Bloomfield Park, was charged with similar offences on the same date.

Derry Magistrates Court was today told that a Salvation Army parade was taking place in the Diamond area of the city and Coyle was seen standing in the middle of the road shouting ‘Orange b——s’.

He refused to move on and police tried to reason with him but he pushed a female officer in the chest and struggled with police.

As regards O’Reilly, the court was told that the band of the Salvation Army was forced to cut short their performance due to the defendant’s behaviour.

He was trying to assault members of the band and was shouting sectarian abuse such as ‘Orange b——s’.

He also shouted ‘F–k the PSNI’.

The court was told there was a large crowd of shoppers in the area and O’Reilly continued to shout and swear at police.

Defence barrister for O’Reilly, Eoghain Devlin , said it was hard to think of another incidence of such ‘ignorance and stupidity’.

He said the court was ‘not only dealing with two stupid individuals but two who had not taken the time to notice the make-up of our society.’

He said on the day in question O’Reilly for reasons known only to himself had stopped taking his medication and taken alcohol.

Stephen Mooney, counsel for Coyle, said it was ‘drunken, obnoxious behaviour’ and said that the Salvation Army made for a very soft target.

He said the incident was ‘unpleasant for shoppers’ who were in the area at the time.

District Judge Barney McElholm said the Salvation Army do ‘tremendous good’ for both sides of the community and would help anyone in need.

He went on: “The idea that good people like that were subjected to this gross, vile, sectarian abuse should fill anyone with horror.”

He told both men that they deserved to go straight to prison.

He adjourned the case until November 30 and told both men that if they did not come in to court on that date with £250 each for the Salvation Army they were going to prison.

  12. VAMPER ,

I see the Scottish branch of paedo infested BBC has CLIMBED DOWN ,YES ,CLIMBED DOWN ,they knew all along on this recent occasions and in the past [ a la McCoist effigy ] that they have an AGENDA ,we knew what they are/were about ,you just need to see who runs this rhat infested mhedia station what team /club they favour .They just cannot help themselves ,it is in their D.N.A..

Here is a wee pointer for them a ” SCOOP ” if you like , what about the tax evasion/avoidance of Liewell and Riley and some of the players caught up in the deceit the fact they have had to pay back a substantial amount I’m led to believe , [ fictitious film company ] to H.M.R.C here’s another one for you Riley one of their directors has had Parkinson’s for 4 yrs ,but the filth had him continue with U.E.F.A since his diagnosis , good job cause’ last year he did his job [allegedly ] in getting the ” always cheated but never defeated ” an unfair appeal against a minor indiscretion , just shows what they will do to cheat their way in football ,but justice prevailed ,thank goodness . hope Riley does not suffer too much ,good wishes to him.

Wonder who they have lined up to take Riley’s place because when you see the draw they are well pumped [ Europa league ] ,at least the Bernadette’s out there will be out of hospital in time for Christmas ,

Like all the rest of our support I am so excited by our style of play ,but the one MAJOR THING is how the manager and the rest of the staff refers to our club ,this is RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB . how refreshing is that ,I’m chuffed to bits with this attitude .

Bill hope this piece satisfies the moderator and I know that Wally’s son writes some shite but he has very good Protestant ethics that I wonder who in there right mind could take offence with him , a proper GENTLEMAN , so he tells me .

    SO MOTE IT BE .!!!!!!!!

  13. Has anybody seen or heard from the Celtic CEO Wherefore art thou Pedro ?
You out looking for Sporting Integrity ?
Or is it that the arse has fallen out of your grand plan. You have been as elusive as King’s investment in my club. I will wager you are as sick as a parrot with a bad case of the Dukes. I bet you were hoping to draw Dortmund, and put on a fan fest with their magnificent support. You know the smoke and mirror display you put on, to try and showcase what a great support you have. Ah well it’s going to be green seats and closed stands again for your Sunday viewing.
    WATP

    1. He’s too busy squaring off his debt

  14. I note that Rangers First have bought at total of 836,000 shares in RIFC despite the fact that the equity has been delisted for almost six months. I posit that there will no attempt to list on ISDX until such time as the accounts to fiscal end 30 June are produced. These won’t make good reading as we know that we required £13.5m of additional finance to balance the books and that any repeat of the Deloitte artifice of adding The Rangers Retail turnover to the P&L will not be accepted. The negative goodwill of over £20m in the first accounts was a stroke of genius by Green & Deloitte.
In the foreword to the accounts, expect a cleverly worded puff piece by our absent chairman on how good things will be this season and on how any problems in the accounts are the failings of the previous board. He will of course fail to mention his agitation that led to the problems of the last board and that his actions drove them to raising £9.5m to avoid administration. Those of us who have paid attention realize that if Sandy Easdale had not paid our VAT bill in January then HMRC would have almost certainly appointed receivers. This is why David Somers spent his Boxing Day writing to anyone who had ever expressed an interest in buying our club.

Despite King’s cull of the player budget, with now 12 of the original 22 he inherited now removed from the payroll, the new shyster board are still £10.5m short of breaking even this summer. Now if you were to believe The Phantom Raspberry Blower, King will step in to pick up this deficit. Are these people living in trees? King is battling against a currency reverse that has seen the Rand drop to 20.14 to Sterling. His latest boiler room confection has a dividend yield of only 2.05% after transaction charges, which is less than Green managed to achieve with his negative goodwill ruse.

I’m sure Peterhouse/JP Jenkins have presented several proposals to the shyster board. With no possibility of showing liquidity until 30 June 2016, ISDX is non-starter. Even with £28.25m of creative accounting, there was a significant loss in 2013/2014 and there is little doubt that 2014/2015 will also end in the red. When you then consider King’s convictions for tax evasion, I cannot envisage any listing whatsoever. Not that will stop King from selling OTC equity. SDM attempted to raise money in this manner. He failed spectacularly. But then he did not have Rangers First and the RST competing for blazers and willing to buy any shares, on behalf of Rangers supporters, when issued by the shyster board. If they plan a pre Xmas release, the AGM will be late November. If a Januasry pitch, December.

As a final note I calculated the loss of two years of failing to qualify for the CL as a minimum of £17.77m, predicated on the assumption that 2014/2015 would yield a similar amount to the CFC 2013/2014 returns. However, if they had managed 4 pts from their group the loss is actually £19.227,000 for the two year period. Those interested in how I arrive at this total can access my twitter account. I’m sure Mr Stevens will drop by to challenge my figures. My comments are a red rag to his bull.

    1. Step wary when you comment on my good friend, Charlrs Green, JJ.

    2. ”I’m sure Mr Stevens will drop by to challenge my figures. My comments are a red rag to his bull”

Mr James anybody who knows me will know that I am never like what you described me my friend. I am not now or never will be like a red raging bull and I am sorry that you feel that is my reaction to the your posts.

At this time I will take issue with the comments ”The negative goodwill of over £20m in the first accounts was a stroke of genius by Green & Deloitte”

Again you are fully aware of the comments I posted to you before the second time you ”blocked” me from twitter asking for your explanation on Negative Good Will.

Now on that question I presented to you the accounts that you actually posted to me and pointed out to you that the mention of NGW was actually in brackets which denotes that this was actually a minus and not a plus. As I said this was clearly shown to you.

You never replied then but hopefully you will now. The figure was/is (19 269) Million. I have deliberately put the NGW figures in the exact form that were presented on the accounts that you wanted me to peruse.

Could you now explain why NGW is accounted as a negative and a minus on the accounts you presented to me on twitter and also how a minus denotation can be taken as a positive and a stroke of genius?

Please do not think this post is anything other than one seeking a explanation and clarity on your point. Selah

      1. John – good will helped to increase profits/reduce losses in 2013.

“The negative goodwill release of £20.5 million is a credit to the income statement based on a calculation showing the fair value of net assets acquired of £27.2 million and a consideration of £6.7 million.”

“credit” is the key – a positive – so has to appear as a negative.

This element would normally be subtracted in annual accounts as its “non recurring items” and seen as costs – but appears as (16,204) total – a negative – because when this negative value is subtracted – it gets added. Simple maths.

JJ did ask what you think of King – will he give us £30m?

        1. Good explanation if it were accurate. I have again reviewed the accounts, and the following figures you quote

20.5 Million credited to the income statement

(16 204) as a negative statement after anything to do with ”Negative Goodwill” after its name

I see not one figure with 20.5 Million released into the income statement or for that matter as stated above (16 204) with that total of negative which has NGW after its name.

May I remind you my friend that Rangers posted a loss on the accounts for that year.

Also the accounts registered with Companies House on the 4th April 2014 have the values of Ibrox and Murray Park as follows

The property value carried out by DM Hall dated 10th October 2012

          Ibrox 65.2 Million
          Murray Park 14 Million

So if you can point me to any figures that you quoted on the accounts that were registered with Companies House I would be very thankful

          1. Feel I am between two internet giants ( sitonfence and pzj_1) , but from the 2013 accounts :http://www.rangersinternationalfootballclub.com/shareholder-centre/reports-accounts

We have section on non-recurring items ( which is added up ) and this is then subtracted from income… ( as its costs) to get overall proft/loss – which lead to a overall small loss. Pzj is correct on this point.

            NON-RECURRING ITEMS
RIFC has incurred the following non-recurring items since incorporation:
            13 month
            period to
            30 June 2013
            £’000
Repayment of RFC 2012 plc football debt 2,721
Release of negative goodwill to income ( 20,465 )
            IPO fund-raising expenses 332
            Investigation expenses 599
            Acquisition expenses 609
            Non-recurring items (16,204)

So the total summation is -16m ( a positive if subtracted) , with -20m for the release of negative good will on the assets ( Ibrox and other fixed assets) . Which despite being bought by Green for just £1m months earlier – was revalued at £20m – this is the accounting trick ( perfectly legal ) which jj claims – which allows 20m to be added – thus loses were far worse but were masked by this.

By reducing losses – share price was maintained far higher – and thus anyone selling early – got far better price.

two issues arise – why was Ibrox sold for just £1m if worth £20m…? As this robbed our fans of £19m of value (as we and debenture holders had built a 5 star uefa 50+k seater stadium) – and then allowed an accounting trick to remove £20m of losses from the first accounts after ipo.

so jj right on accounting trick, and js right on its effect of reducing loses.

            1. I quit reading after this Mr Brown and really could not take you serious ”We have section on non-recurring items ( which is added up ) and this is then subtracted from income… ( as its costs) to get overall proft/loss – which lead to a overall small loss. Pzj is correct on this point”.

”Which lead to a overall small loss. Pzj is correct on this point”.

              Small loss? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-24344579

Please come back when you know what you are talking about and I may take you serious

              1. £14m loss is far less than £34m – as £20m miraculously appear simply by revaluing assets bought months earlier for £1m.

Here is your complaint to JJ:

“Could you now explain why NGW is accounted as a negative and a minus on the accounts you presented to me on twitter and also how a minus denotation can be taken as a positive and a stroke of genius? ”

                …as a negative and a minus
                – two negatives makes a positive – this is basic maths brother.
                -1 – (-1) = ????? (see bottom of post for answer)
…how a minus denotation cant be taken as a positive
                – because its subtracted Income-Costs = Profit – no?

not gonna post anymore on this – you and jj need to fight this out.

Answer: 0 , -1 gets bigger if you subtract a negative from it.

              2. Mr Brown I feel that you would be better suited to electrics with this comment ” two negatives makes a positive – this is basic maths brother’

You in fact remind me of the man that is dangerous because he has a little knowledge. On the accounts there is in fact a positive and a minus. Not two negatives but a positive and a minus. That is called ”balance” On accounts brother two negatives do not or ever do make a positive. Do you understand that bit?

There is no issue with Negative Good Will, none at all. In fact this accusation that it is a ”ruse’ or in your case it is a trick is very dangerous language. I have pointed out to you twice now that Rangers treatment of it on the accounts is exactly how it is to be treated. if Rangers auditors treated this any different from how they are actually treating it then they are stepping outside the accountancy standards and the particular one I quoted to you and Mr James.

Do you inderstand that FRS 10 is an accountacy standard? Do you understand that Rangers auditors are following this correctly in their treatment of the Negative Good Will?

let this little read help you https://frc.org.uk/Our-Work/Codes-Standards/Accounting-and-Reporting-Policy/Standards-in-Issue/FRS-10-Goodwill-and-Intangible-Assets.aspx

Will it sink in now with you Mr Brown? Do you understand that Auditors and Accountants must follow standards and unlike you and Mr James can not just say what they want?

If it is actually a standard then it can not be a ”ruse” or a ”trick” though perfectly legal?

Rangers auditors have followed the standard set down to them perfectly and accuarately and correctly. Unlike you and Mr james they are regulated and answerable to people and can not be caught up in some great ”ruse” and ”trick”

Accountancy may not be your game brother, but as I said at the beginning I have a feeling that a great career in electrics awaits you my friend. Selah

            2. Let me attempt to explain to you Mr Brown how Negative Goodwill Must be treated on accounts according to FRS 10.

This is not accounting trickery but is actually a mandatory accounting practice. You and Mr James are very confused on this point. Please get it from your mind that in your words ”this is the accounting trick” ( perfectly legal )

it is not an accounting trick but how it must be treated on accounts according to the standard FRS 10. quoted. This is no five card trick or sleight of hand or magic accounting but is mandatory.

Now lets look at it again ( I already posted this and you ignored it) but please read carefully

”Negative goodwill arises when the fair value of acquired assets exceeds the consideration given. Such a situation can arise, for example, when a company which is making heavy losses is taken over.
If an acquisition appears to give rise to negative goodwill, the fair values of the acquired assets should be tested for impairment and the fair values of the acquired liabilities checked carefully to ensure that none has been omitted or understated. Negative goodwill remaining after the fair values of the assets and liabilities have been checked should be recognised and separately disclosed on the face of the balance sheet, immediately below the goodwill heading and followed by a subtotal showing the net amount of the positive and negative goodwill.

Negative goodwill up to the fair values of the non-monetary assets acquired should be recognised in the profit and loss account in the periods in which the non-monetary assets are recovered, whether through depreciation or sale.

Now read especially ”Negative goodwill up to the fair values of the non-monetary assets acquired should be recognised in the profit and loss account in the periods in which the non-monetary assets are recovered, whether through depreciation or sale”

Do you see that? ”should be recognised in the profit and loss account in the periods in which the non-monetary assets are recovered, whether through depreciation or sale”

Please note ””should be recognised in the profit and loss account”

”Should” not trickery or magic accounting but SHOULD.

Now please also notice this ” Should be recognised and separately disclosed on the face of the balance sheet, immediately below the goodwill heading and followed by a subtotal showing the net amount of the positive and negative goodwill”

What I want you to notice is the words ”’ Should be recognised and separately disclosed on the face of the balance sheet, immediately below the goodwill heading”

Especially ”separately disclosed on the face of the balance sheet”

This is exactly what happened. The article I gave you http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-24344579

Also reflects this in the words of Craig Mather ””As expected, we are reporting significant operating losses, although a retained profit”

Do you see the difference and ”Should be recognised and separately disclosed on the face of the balance sheet”?

Operational loss and yet retained profit. It is what the release of negative good will means according to FRS 10 and what is required to be detailed on the accounts and treated as such.

Now to finish this let us look what Rangers accounts stated in 2014 and please note the wording from FRS 10 ”And separately disclosed on the face of the balance sheet, immediately below the goodwill heading and followed by a subtotal showing the net amount of the positive and negative goodwill”

” Immediately below the goodwill heading”

On the accounts made up tp June 2014 Under note 10 this is exactly what happened with the note ””Negative Good Will is being released to the profit and loss account over the estimated economic lifespan of the underlying assets to which it relates which ranges between 3-100 years”

This is totally in line with ”Negative goodwill up to the fair values of the non-monetary assets acquired should be recognised in the profit and loss account in the periods in which the non-monetary assets are recovered, whether through depreciation or sale”

Please note again ”SHOULD be recognised in the profit and loss account in the periods in which the non-monetary assets are recovered”

There again is that word ‘should’ not a trick or an invention but ”should” Not accountancy tricks but perfectly legal but ”should”.

Now please read this ”in which the non-monetary assets are recovered, whether through depreciation or sale”

Now what have we under note 10 on the June 14 accounts? We have two figures 962K for 2013 and 951K for 2014 with atotal of 1.913 million which are the depreciation figures. This is in line with ”whether through depreciation or sale” the method for the removal of the Negative Good Will from the face of the balance sheet.

Now you will accept that this can come from either ”depreciation or sale” that it will not be from sale but depreciation.

All the above is exactly what is happening with the Negative Good Will on Rangers accounts.

Please do not try to find anything that is not mandatory accounting practices or anything that accountants or auditors can escape from doing without failing in their duties.

              1. Why do you post two replies to my one this morning….? brother – you say you don’t act like a bull – you are!

“mandatory accounting practices ” – We saw with Enron there is no such thing as “mandatory” accounting practices. Accounting is an art not a science. Arthur Anderson the accounting firm lost most of its clients when it was charged with false accounting.

Your own dissection of our enemies accounts show that you have to read between the lines – no?
They claim millions in profits year on year – and you point out flaws in those claims and how tiny minutes and footnotes expose real issues.

“better suited to electrics ” – have you run a business, hired an accountant and submitted accounts – it seems from your posts above you have not, just googled, cut and pasted.

lets see what jj has to say.

              2. ”Why do you post two replies to my one this morning….? brother – you say you don’t act like a bull – you are!

              3. PZJ, its great to have you back on here , your post are great to read, your knowledge of the financial side are way over my head and it is good that we have someone like you who understands that side of it. I see you are in a debate with a few posters on here who are giving their outlook on the situations regarding Rangers.

Most of the guys on here look forward to reading your next post , as you kept us all informed of what was going on at the dark side of Glasgow, the point I am trying to make is , I hope you don’t have to be answering /debating with other posters who are trying to score points ,as I feel their could be a few more googling and as asking you questions, you are more than capable of holding your own,. As I said earlier PZJ great have you back

    3. Definition of Negative Good Will

Now you will see Mr James that far from it being ”a stroke of genius to include” it is rather an accounting necessity under FRS10.

This is stated very clearly in the definition ”Negative goodwill up to the fair values of the non-monetary assets acquired should be recognised in the profit and loss account in the periods in which the non-monetary assets are recovered, whether through depreciation or sale.

Any negative goodwill in excess of the fair values of the non-monetary assets acquired should be recognised in the profit and loss account in the periods expected to be benefited”.

On the latest accounts Rangers submitted under the Heading negative Good Will this is amplified with this note.

”Negative Good Will is being released to the profit and loss account over the estimated economic lifespan of the underlying assets to which it relates which ranges between 3-100 years.

This is totally in line with ”in the periods in which the non-monetary assets are recovered, whether through depreciation or sale”

You will note that in Rangers accounts this is happening through depreciation rather than sale and you can expect this to be mentioned on any future Rangers accounts for the foreseeable future.

In fact as I stated far from being a stroke of genius to play a five card trick this is in fact nothing but a mandatory accounting practice.

      1. The key phrase here Mr James and Mr Brown is ”Negative goodwill remaining after the fair values of the assets and liabilities have been checked should be recognised and separately disclosed on the face of the balance sheet”

Or , ”Should be recognised and separately disclosed on the face of the balance sheet”

That is exactly what is happening as it is declared ”Seperately” on the face of the balance sheet. Selah

      2. I would like to commend Mr Brown for his valiant attempt to counter Mr Stevens. Mr Brown should note that Mr Stevens will major on one point, and pursue it relentlessly. This is why I reluctantly had to block him on Twitter as he would return to his central theme of the brackets in regard to negative goodwill as presented in the first accounts of the new corporate vehicle The Rangers International Football Club plc.

The following is a quote from Mr Stevens in one of his numerous responses (he is nothing if not tenacious) to Mr Brown:

”Negative goodwill arises when the fair value of acquired assets exceeds the consideration given. Such a situation can arise, for example, when a company which is making heavy losses is taken over.”

The first statement is factually correct, the second is not pertinent as RFC plc was not taken over Mr Stevens. As you well know RFC plc was renamed Rangers 2012 plc and is now being liquidated. It was not taken over, it was replaced by two new companies, one of which, The Rangers Football Club plc, acquired the stadium and trading complex for a consideration of £1.5m.

Which gives rise to the central thrust of my argument, and a point that was well articulated by Mr Brown. Why were the assets sold at such a low price if their fair value is considerably more? We are indebted to Mr Stevens for reproducing a much higher estimation by DM Hall of the fair value of the stadium and training complex. In a matter of weeks, assets bought for £1.5m are now worth £79.2m. Some weeks after that in the IPO prospectus the stadium is presented as being worth almost twice the fair value as assigned by DM Hall

I am aware of accountancy conventions Mr Stevens, including FRS 10. However the problem arises when Deloitte ignore the fair value as estimated by DM Hall, and in my view, arrive at their own arbitrary figure for negative goodwill, which conveniently creates a modest profit on a significant operating loss. A modest profit that underpins a share value significantly higher than the value on the exchange, which subsequently had a 52 week high of 32p, and a low of 18p.

Some of us perceive this as creative accountancy, particularly when the negative goodwill is not representative of a fair value consideration, as per DM Hall.

I’m sure you will respond to this as you must have the last word on any topic. I believe it’s time to draw a line under it as last time I checked this was The Rangers Supporters Loyal portal, not an accountancy trade magazine.

        1. Obvious typo, please replace Trading Complex with Training Complex. Giving Mr Stevens such an easy target would allow him to deconstruct my comment using the same tactics he deployed with Mr Brown.

        2. Mr James when you are wrong it is always wise to quit. But you now give me so much mirth with your replies I actually look forward to them.

But lets go with the latest.

” I am aware of accountancy conventions Mr Stevens, including FRS 10. However the problem arises when Deloitte ignore the fair value as estimated by DM Hall, and in my view, arrive at their own arbitrary figure for negative goodwill, which conveniently creates a modest profit on a significant operating loss”.

You do not get it do you? ”Any negative goodwill in excess of the fair values of the non-monetary assets acquired should be recognised in the profit and loss account in the periods expected to be benefited”

You claim to know the standard FRS 10 and yet completely ignore that NGW must be accounted for on the accounts.

Do you get this statement? ”Negative Good Will remaining after the fair values of the assets and liabilities have been checked should be recognised and separately disclosed on the face of the balance sheet”

Do you now realise why Craig Mather stated after the release the accounts that there was an operational loss but a retained profit? Do you understand why he said that based on this ”should be recognised and separately disclosed on the face of the balance sheet”

The next statement I want to go over with you is this ”Which gives rise to the central thrust of my argument, and a point that was well articulated by Mr Brown. Why were the assets sold at such a low price if their fair value is considerably more?

Do you understand how negative Good Will can arise? Let me explain ”negative goodwill often indicates a distress sale, and the unfavorable sale conditions lead to a depressed sale price”.

Do you see that phrase ”depressed sale price”? Do you need a definition? ”A state or condition of a market, product or security characterized by slumping prices”

Now if the Negative Good Wil arose from a distressed sale would you expect it to be low or high? Answers on a postcard please 😉

Now I know from experience that distressed sales are never at the true value and most sales of this nature have three figures.

          1) The Bottom line
          2) Fair Vlaue
          3) True Vlaue

In this case with Rangers the bottom line is what was paid, and a fair value also given. The true value which any company would have to put on the accouts to establish the value of the fixed assets should be next to happen in this procedure.

Did this happen? Indeed it did. The fair value quoted on the accounts was in June/July 2012. Next came the establishing of the actual value which is the natural process of things and in line with proper accontancy standards to establish the actual value. Not the bottom line or the fair value but the true value.

When did this take place and was it noted on the accounts by Deloitte? On page 6 of the accounts posted on Companies House we have for the period June 12 to June 13 these words.

”The property valuation report from DM Hall dated the 10th October 2012 (revaluation of assets) includes a valuation of the company’s properties.

          Ibrox 65.2 Million

          Murray Park 14 Million

So you see this is all noted on the accounts. There is no hint of any creative accountancy or anything untoward but simply a following of accountancy standards and the correct procedures on how these things are treated on tha accounts statement. Do you understand this concept?

There is nothing going on here but proper accounting. And if you feel that creative accounting has taken place I believe you should take the next step and go to Deloitte with your concerns and tell them they are being creative. I suspect you will not.

Now Mr James the last few weeks have not been kind to you. Jim Fraser dismantled your hidden lease theory and since then you have been shown very clearly who owns Ibrox and Murray park and also what was offered as security for the SD loan.

The problem I have is all the above theories were bandied about by a silly man who actually stated that a Rangers Director told him that Ibrox and Murray Park could never be used for security for loans. This in the same week that it was revealed by STV that MA had started a priority search on both properties.

I suggest that you do a little more research on your theories before bring them into an open forum of Rangers supporters. Trust me my friend I will monitor every word you post on here.

          1. Mr Stevens, your dismissive and might I add, arrogant, approach to the comments by Mr Brown does not serve you well. Some of your comments cross the border from ill-considered to downright offensive. I do not comment here to entertain you. I made the assumption I was in a portal where my comments could add to the debate about the new board, but all you want to do is reduce the debate to the narrow confines of your training in accountancy. Asking me repeatedly if I understand the Queen’s English is insulting. I have probably read more balance sheets than you have in your entire career, but my focus is on financial instruments such as credit default swaps and follow the sun arbitrage, to name but two. I actually made a profit on my RIFC shares portfolio as I divested myself of the majority of my holding as I knew that King’s criminal convictions and his hostility to our NOMAD would result in de-listing. I note two contributors, FTBR and Gordo have returned to the board. I value the contributions of both and I enjoy when Gordo ‘nails’ the issue with some succinct prose.
You, on the other hand Mr Stevens, appear to spend your time undermining the comments of others. If that’s how you get your kicks, your ‘mirth’, then who am I to stop you. You are evidently intent on driving me and others from this portal. In this endeavour you may well succeed Mr Stevens as I have no desire to discuss the minutiae in which you seem to thrive. Your relentlessly insulting comments have worn me down and from this point onward I will not engage in any comments you might make, or as seems to be more apposite, your challenges to those who try to introduce new ideas and theories on this portal. I defer to Bill’s judgement and I value the guidance of Ninjaman. I do not defer to you Mr Stevens and I never will.

    4. According to Keith Jackson, who has dined well on the travails of Rangers, we are now on the brink of justice. Before I continue it’s important to note that Keith Jackson is a Rangers man. He followed Rangers as a boy and at one time played for a Rangers under 14 side. The perfect credentials for a career in SMSM. Mr Jackson and his former boss Mr Traynor have selective memories. Day after day they both regaled us with PR puff pieces on Craig Whyte. According to Jackson & Traynor he was a self-made millionaire who had successfully played the markets. Mr Traynor, who was at the centre of the media feeding frenzy, came to the conclusion that he was a billionaire.

No-one checked. No-one even asked the most obvious question as to how Mr Whyte managed to avoid the 2008 crash.
At a sumptuous dinner at SDM’s Jersey home, Mr Traynor and others were presented with a choice. They could lavishly dine on PR pieces from Stephen Kerr, or they could go against the grain and be blackballed. So when Craig Whyte arrived in Glasgow, having acquired the 84% holding of SDM, there was no due diligence by the so-called Scottish mainstream media. The media were hoping that the old back-scratching relationship would continue.

Media careers have been lost on less, but not for Mr Traynor who decided to join Stephen Kerr at Rangers. Mr Traynor received a lucrative salary and share options and then continued to influence others to write pro Rangers stories. Mr Traynor continues to earn from Rangers at Level 5. Informed speculation suggests that his fledgling company has earned circa £600,000 from their part in the underfunded coup d’etat. The phantom @exposingphil claimed that he had a relationship with the Level 5 protagonists and when I put it to him that this organisation would earn £1m from Rangers this year he responded that £1m was accurate, excluding the work preparing for and delivering the coup d’etat. Traynor/Kerr gave us the 3 Bears narrative to assuage our concerns that a convicted criminal was being given the reins at Ibrox. We were led to believe that the consortium of Taylor, Park & Letham were backing King and the implication was that even if King was a heavily indebted white collar criminal, three men of integrity had his back. I’m sure King considers it money well spent. Not his money of course. The invoices are to RIFC at Edmiston drive. The Rangers ST holders paid this bill and will continue to pay the Level 5 invoices.

So all this talk of justice leaves me cold. As Police Scotland continue their inquiries, it’s fairly obvious that Craig Whyte is going to be the fall guy. He is alleged to have falsified records, so I would be surprised if the prima facie evidence did not lead to a conviction for gaining a pecuniary advantage through deception. However, I fail to see the pecuniary advantage. He lost his home and is now personally liable for the £26.5m borrowed from Ticketus and their litigation costs. Is this the justice that Mr Jackson is referring to?

Chris McLaughlin wrote the following in 2012: “After HMRC rejected proposals for a creditors agreement that would have allowed the old club to continue, administrators Duff and Phelps negotiated a sale of assets to a consortium led by Mr Green for £5.5m. He has since formed a new club, now playing in the Scottish Football League Third Division.”

So where is the justice for Rangers fans? We were led a merry dance by the SMSM all the way to administration and beyond. Our club was carved up and sold as distressed assets. Our trademarks, crests and the Rangers brand were sold for a song. We were not allowed to acquire the Rangers SPL share and we find ourselves on a journey back to the top tier that has resulted in a minimum of four seasons in lower tier football and the absence of UEFA participation, We have also had to suffer the ignominy of being called a new club by the state broadcaster and our detractors

I don’t envisage any justice. Just a slap on the wrist for some corporate malfeasance which pales to insignificance when compared to the white collar crime of Dave King.

Jackson and Traynor have not been called to account. Until such time as they are, there will be no justice.

      1. Outstanding post.

  17. What about John Brown,s latest words of wisdom – “The fans are rejuvenated because they see Rangers guys in the boardroom ” NAW John, the fans are rejuvenated because they see fitba.
7000 on a Tuesday night in Airdrie just to see the board. Fuck off John, P.R. is not for you.
I wonder if John has been measured for his commissionaire uniform yet, as the main entrance is missing his welcoming demeanour. A bib would be required though to keep the gravy aff it!!!

    1. John Brown is simply and purely a sycophant – that is the politest way i can put things on a family show. We really do not need folk like him speaking for us all.

By the way has he, like Richard Gough, lost a lot of his football money ?

      SS

    2. Broons reception at the half time draw last week says all you need to know about how fans feel about him !

Show us the deeds indeed Mr Broon , what about Show us your brain Mr Broon

      1. AP
The way broon talks you would think an invisible (new board)man is using him as a ventriloquist (PR) dummy.
        RD66

    3. Groovy,
I was just watching Brown online nattering and right away what came into my mind was a raving lunatic on the steps of the Main Stand and also on SOS lorry. What a showing up for someone who says he’s a real rangers man and even too suggest New Board are great shows how thick he is too.As for RF/RST/BuyRangers I find it very funny none of them have even questioned king co as Llambias did IE “Where is your Money and Nomad Dave” .As it’s coming up for 6 months since EGM king and his cronies have had plenty time to do so.

      1. chas,
It’s my view that John Brown is being used and taking a using by others. RF/RST/Buy Rangers are full of good Gers supporters who IMO are also being used.
The present board could help allay fears about the clubs financial situation by immediately paying back the £5m loan from the proceeds of the 33k season ticket sales and at the same time increase the profits by a whopping 26% on all retail sales. This simple piece of business would also bring the securities of Murray Park, The Albion car park and Edminston House back in house, as well as having control over the clubs crests and badges. Now I am no financial whizz kid so will someone tell me why this isn’t happening. The Rangers must have a bank account, so why doesn’t Kingco as a gesture to ALL Rangers supporters deposit £10m now. I,m not saying spend any of this, just let ALL Rangers fans know it’s there if required. After all if Kingco has money to invest in Rangers for the good of Rangers, the money is better in a Rangers account than elsewhere, or am I talking shite?. Go easy now.

        1. Groovy
Either Rod Hull has risen from the grave or King must have a good friend in Peter Powers. The aforementioned in your post seem to be getting worked from the back or have lost all rational thought process. How can these same ever vigilant groups(and individuals)be taken in by the confidence trick that’s being played out in front of us all ?
Where’s the money and the nomad indeed ?
          RD66

  18. Bill ..

It’s nice to see some familiar faces on here is it not?

I have noticed one ‘old face’ that’s inconspicuous by his absence, you know who I’m talking about?

I think a phone call or two to get his backside into gear may be in order lol

    1. A very old face 😄

      1. Weather beaten old face, makes great rolls though. I call for a meeting, to discuss his absence .. 😎

  19. The Phantom Blogger’s latest:
    https://exposingtherhats.wordpress.com/2015/08/26/its-time-to-talk-about-celtic/

Yes, let’s talk about Celtic…….but, first, let’s get a ‘dig’ in against querying Rangers fans and dress them up as daft, misled Celtic fans.
Shhhhhhhh ! Don’t mention NOMAD, ISDX, Investment as loans, etc

Hmmmm, sounds very like a certain Mr Graham, non ?

Anyways, the blogger goes through Celtic’s finances……..sorry, mate, but we (all) can get a better viewpoint of this from far better sources, rather than just reiterate what others have already noted.

    And, lastly,
‘……If I was a pretend journalist I would end this blog by saying I’ve submitted a list of daft questions to Celtic’s PR department, I haven’t because frankly I don’t care enough but as a gift to my many Celtic supporting followers here are a few you should be asking:……..’

    – if i was a pretend journalist……..does this mean the blogger actually is ?
    – i would submit……but don’t care……but here you are anyway
I wish this guy would make his mind up !
    – four questions:
    1st question is personal ‘we’
2nd through to 4th questions are more impersonal, ‘the plans’, ‘the club’
    Is the 1st question a ‘slip’ ?

Honestly, when some of our proposed own set out to ‘attack’ our detractors they seem to end up attacking ‘us’ more.

    3. The phantom Blogger, we,d be better reading The phantom fucking Raspberry Blower .

The people on this site would love for us all to be wrong and the board pump in all the money they said they would and all the promises they made come true. We would hold our hands up and say we were wrong, but until such times, if ever, we are ridiculed for not falling into line and believing everything that is spun.

I have a lot of friends who were starting to see things were not as promised, but as the team is now playing well it has taken peoples mind s of of things. Come January I think we will have a lot of players out of contract, what happens then, will they be replaced with more loans or will we buy and start to build a settled side ready to make a mark on the SPL. By the way , you seem to have mellowed a wee bit Vamps, welcome back.

I thought the Arsenal lad looked the part tonight , and another good performance from Halliday.

  20. I don’t mean Richlay, it’s John James. He posted this:

‘The success of W&W comes at a price of £500,000, just as it would have last season if Zuckic’s contribution had led to promotion.’

I got a link here from his twitter where he mentioned us releasing ‘Zaluskas’, even though he plays for the tims.

Why doesn’t he know the names of our players?

    1. I cut and pasted someone who tweeted a blog positing release of players. I have now removed the tweet. I assumed he was a player loaned to us as I cannot keep up will all of them. I pay little attention to CFC players and until you brought my attention to it I had forgotten that a player called Zaluska once played for them. My apologies.

  21. I note that the individual who made scurrilous remarks about Bill is continuing to disparage those who oppose the views of his preferred PR agency, Level 5. His latest blog takes his lies and fiction to a new paradigm. He is clearly not the sharpest tool in the box, and his latest less than creative writing exposes a lack of insight and intellect that is prevalent in those with insecurity issues and low self esteem. I have no idea who deals with the post at Level 5, but I would posit that it would be the ideal employment for the phantom blogger.

I picked up the following from the Twitter feed of someone who challenges everything I write. The King acolyte, Cambridge Blue, who crossed pens with me on an almost daily basis on the LSE AIM shares chat:

Phantom Blogger ‏@exposingphil 3h3 hours ago
http://wp.me/p6pBEY-s The one and only blog I will ever write about Celtic Football Club.

I invite Mr Stevens, who seems to have an insight on CFC finances, to have a look at this moronic blog, but I could fully understand if he deemed it not worthy of his consideration.

I would prefer to take the following comment head on:

” Infamously one prominent Celtic supporting social media account “John James” came up with the glorious conspiracy theory that one of Paul Murray’s former employers Deutsche Bank was actually a failing garden centre.”

First of all I will deal with the most obvious lie. I have never connected Deutsche Bank with Mr Murray’s executive position in a loss making garden supply company, which anyone who made even a cursory director check could quickly establish is a phoenix operation. To attribute Deutsche Bank to any statement by me is a complete lie. I challenge this moron to produce a scintilla of evidence on his specious allegation.

Deotsche Bank is an organisation that I engage with. I am a regular guest at their offices on Wall Street. To suggest that I stated they were Mr Murray’s latest failing enterprise is a lie.

As for being a CFC supporter, I can assure @exposingphil that nothing could be further from the truth. This is a common tactic by those who claim to represent the shyster board, and frankly is not worthy of much more comment. I tend to ignore those who challenge my allegiance to Rangers. Anyone who comes to that conclusion is not worthy of my time.

The moron continues to attempt to undermine the fiduciary credibility of CFC. I am no expert on their accounts, but his timing, after their latest CL exit, is indicative of an agenda and a less than objective perspective. To suggest that they will have to market six players is fantasy. In the past they have merely sold a player to counteract any shortfall in their fiscal projections and I would not be surprised if Van Dijk folows Forster to Southampton.

I would also remind the phantom blogger that CFC do have a bank account and overdraft facilities at the Co-operative Bank, which is not the case with the shyster board at RIFC.

However I’m not here to defend CFC, just to point out how ludicrous this individual has become as he desperately seeks attention with a blog with no founding in facts and of little merit.

I conclude Bill, that the individual who attacked you and the RSL is a moronic buffoon.

    1. I grew up in two houses called Ibrox and have watched Rangers since I was a toddler. But these people question my own bluenose credentials. Unlike many of them I can prove mine before 2011.

      1. Bill / JJ …

Isn’t it just wonderful to read something so sterile, purile and utterly worthless?

How this complete tosser can all of a sudden blog about Celtic’s finances as if he is some kind of expert is hysterically funny.

PZ&J must be deeply concerned that all his work has been plagiarised so pathetically, the Football Tax Havens needn’t have bothered investigating Celtic’s dodgy dealings a la land deals, Westhorn, the Lennoxtown Initiative or anything else, this guy gets the job done in one quick blog!

Well, it shows one thing, from Bill’s own blog to the crossover onto this one, there’s Rangers fans that will vilify us, mock us, accuse us, demean us and leave us without a name, but, they read everything we say and know everything that we on here do. Everything.

To mimic is to admire, that little lot that attack us at every opportunity honestly believe they know better, they don’t.

What is it with this guy? He thinks he’s clever but our own on here could dismantle him in seconds.

Even his rant regards Celtic being our main challengers next season is pathetic, let’s win this league first lol, three league games in and he’s talking about winning the Premiership next season.

Celtic will have problems from here on in, I don’t doubt that for a second but to suggest that our shareholders will secure our future for “years to come” is astonishing.

All I keep doing when I read this guy is feel my eyes widening in bewilderment, he’s either a comedian or a very very insecure human being!

Proof, Mr Exposed, do you have any? Or does this person just wake up of a morning and think he’s some kind of genius that should enlighten the planet to what is actually going on?

PR, that’s his mantra. I wonder who that could be then eh?

We have been on about CFC and their finances for years, PZ&J, FTC, the Engineer, JF, AP and all those others that have contributed to the enormous effort, you needn’t have bothered, a phantom turned up and blew all your good work out the water!

Quite possibly the most amateurish, pathetic attempt on this subject I’ve ever had the displeasure to read. Congrats !

        👏👏👍👍😭😭😁😁👌👌

          1. Was I a tad harsh .. 😭😭

            1. No spot on ! – 3-0 up and we finally playing again like champs. But as Bill said if support is split its bad for us and bill reported there was someone in background who could write £50m cheques – so true.

pzj needs to tackle two problems: jj (and his basic mistakes) and phantom blogger (and his pr machinations).

              1. PZ&J and JJ are both very worthy contributors to this site. Debate has come as part and parcel on this site and Bill’s own blog before this. People seem to be forgetting here that JJ has got many many things right when he’s assessed situations. Unfortunately when it comes to Rangers the messenger is usually the one that gets shot. I’m positive JJ is big enough and wise enough to handle it with ease.

I have no interest in this phantom blogger, the only reason I posted on his latest piece was due to the fact that it’s easily the worst blog on this particular subject that I’ve ever read.

It’s great to see some very familiar old faces on here, and some new ones too..

LogicandFacts is a very knowledgable guy and if he’s wrong I’m positive he’d be the first to admit it, I think part of the problem is that Bill, myself and now JJ are being vilified by an element of the Rangers support because we simply won’t bow down to our latest messiah.

Evidence of cash, a long term future business plan and that investment that was PROMISED would go a long way to allaying fears. Until then people like this Exposed can carry on spouting his propaganda, makes no difference to me or dare I say Bill and JJ …

              2. I really wish all those bringing up this sort of thing were just as vociferous about the current lies about promised investment .

There Are None So Blind As Those Who Will Not See:

  22. My last comment managed to elicit a response from Mr Stevens. On this occasion Mr Stevens was barking up the wrong tree (Vamper please note). I was not in any way referring to deferred income. Anyone with a grasp of the salient details would recognize that any loan that will be converted into equity at a later date should not be considered as income on any P&L. It should be referred to under the separate heading of director dealings, which can be presented as a footnote in accounts. If it were presented in this way, there would be no ambiguity in regard to its purpose, but since transparency is the last thing one should expect from this shyster board, I suggested they might defer this issue to another accounting period when the equity conversion actually occurs.

Some on the board have been quick to criticize a typo : ‘£40m’
Others who actually read my posts as opposed to look for any weaknesses, would immediately realize that I was referring to the equity release that was authorized at the last AGM. I attended this AGM, which must come as a surprise to Vamper as I get the distinct impression that my presence would be less than welcome if I were Mr Mac Ghiola Bain, as you imply. I concur with his view that Mr Stevens posts are much better informed than most, including Vamper’s comments on this thread.

Mr Fraser has been asserting that I set out to mislead the board. This is not the case. I merely challenge the received wisdom as I do not accept anything stated by the current board as truth and I am alive to alleged impropriety in regard to former directors. The Land Registry is a useful resource, yet the solicitors acting on behalf of Sports Direct seemed to be oblivious to the existence of a warranty executed by the predecessors of Sports Scotland, should I accept an argument posited by Mr Stevens. During my exchanges on the LSE AIM shares chat, which was open to all shareholders, not just those with shares in RIFC, the question of warranties on assets was a constant theme. When anyone suggested anything that in any way questioned the ownership of assets, his argument was exposed to scrutiny, often followed by a factual rebuttal. The cheap shot of playing the man, Vamper, was thankfully not a common tactic.

I am more than happy to engage in any informed debate with Mr Stevens, but I will not engage in discourse with those who make ludicrous assertions. Should anyone not value my input, might I suggest that you simply ignore it?

    1. ”The Land Registry is a useful resource, yet the solicitors acting on behalf of Sports Direct seemed to be oblivious to the existence of a warranty executed by the predecessors of Sports Scotland, should I accept an argument posited by Mr Stevens”.

Land registry is indeed a useful tool Mr James. Now if the solicitors did not miss the original SS charge from July 2012, and registered their charge on the 27th January and all was in proper order can you explain why the need for amended charge to go over Murray Park from SD?

You will note that the original charge 27th January makes no mention of the SS charge and yet the amended was does. So if it was not missed maybe you can give me an explanation why it needed to be amended.

    2. Also Mr James I believe I have answered you on the deferred loan point today. Selah

    3. JJ.

Like others I have read your posts with interest and by and large have been in agreement with your scepticism and mistrust regards the present incumbents of the Ibrox boardroom, in particular King and Murray.

your recent post however, in which you speculated Ibrox may already have been sold and be subject to a lease back and highlighting a finance lease agreement in the accounts as support for this speculation was of particular concern to me.

the notion Ibrox has been sold and is not in the clubs ownership has been an enduring claim from the PMG’s of this world and always without any substance to back it up, your post, coming from an informed Rangers fan and in particular where you highlight a lease agreement in the accounts as an indication the stadium may already have been sold only serves to give credence to PMG and his ilk and cause fear and worry to fans.

that particular post concerned me because it was so easily dismissed and discounted by a 5 minute look at the accounts and a look at ownership on the Land Registry, there is no evidence to support it whatsoever

Your a knowledgeable guy with an understanding of business practice who many have turned to in an effort to get some insight and understanding of the financial and corporate workings within the boardroom, knowing your posts will be read and commented upon and reposted by concerned fans and people like PMG brings with it a certain responsibility to be as accurate and factual as you can, at the very least you should have taken the 5 minutes to disprove your own speculation and refrained from posting it.

Further, when the speculation is disproved it concerned me that you seemed reluctant to accept this on the premise it might still be a possibility as past/present directors are untrustworthy.

As with all things Rangers these days it’s sometimes difficult to distinguish between genuine supporters with genuine worries and those who’s sole aim is to spread misinformation for they’re own ends (the PMG’s of this world).

I apologise unreservedly for any offence if your the former

  23. Some things never change ; like Chris Sutton is a cnt— the tims are oot the CL — they were cheated again, did I mention Chris Sutton is a cnt, and oh aye VAMPER is back mellow as ever. Good to see you back VAMPER ,I have missed your input mate.

    1. Somebody must have used Sutton’s trigger word on him

      DUNFERMLINE

  24. john james ,are you one of 3 names or 5 names or of many names ,maybe lots of names but with all due respect you will need to be a little bit brighter to try and take on our P.Z.J. Maybe some facts would help ,yours!!!!!! not pzj ,because he knows that the facts are the REAL truth ,not imagined or other. A big hello to ALL the regular posters.

    SO MOTE IT BE .!!!!!!!

    1. Vamper, see your still pulling your punches lol

    2. Welcome home Vamper my Brother 🙂 INVICTA

  25. I agree Merlin that we made heavy work of the game against Hibs, and as in the last time we played them the midfield was the problem. We beat them 6-2 in the first game after being given a doin early in the game because Law, Templeton and McKay took no part for 30min or so, and yesterday Law was at best a yard of everything, while Miller was a liability in whatever his role was. The way W&W set and want the team to play means that we can’t have passengers in the midfield and as you say a slightly better quality opposition will do us harm. Yes there is room for improvement, there always will be and should be, but thankfully we have improved 10 fold already in a very short time at very little cost.

  26. Satisfaction of course is dependent on the breadth of the view taken of any situation:

The Rangers as a purely Championship side – Very satisfied. Six wins from six in competitive matches. There may even be the possibility of winning a minor cup and taking a scalp, or two, in the major cup competitions.

The Rangers as a proposed Premiership challenger – 50/50′ ish. Goalkeeper distribution is schoolboy stuff. Central defence pairing is woeful (what is Weir doing to sort this out ?). Requirement of an out-and-out poacher/striker.
So that’s three from four positions of the ‘spine’ of the team that aren’t functioning well……midfield coming on well though.
Visit to the GP or Consultant required methinks.

Now, who drunk the other half of my pint (bar-steward !)

    SS

    1. Soapy: We need to have a right go in the Scottish Cup as winning that will give us a head start and a better budget if promoted !

      1. AP,

Unless the spine is sorted then we won’t be winning The Scottish Cup this season.

        SS

        1. I Don’t disagree but there is a chance if he can get that sorted and the boy Ball could be the answer , he looked solid and has pace to burn at Ayr lat week and he looked a stand out and if we can get it sorted before third round draw then you never know !

Tall order but doable , he may also think about a centre forward or just somebody to get closer to Waghorn who I think i a smashing player, getting pulled out of position to often to get the ball , but at least I believe now we have proper coaching these things will get sorted unlike the last lot who would get you knocked down if they were lollipop men lol !

          1. Lol, i can’t condone that final comment AP…….lol !

Have heard it described that Waghorn is ‘Oor Dirk Kuyt’.
If so then this will have to be sorted out sooner rather than later…….play a target man (with high balls, cross balls, etc) or someone who will run the ‘channels’ (with the ball played a la Arsenal, on the ground).

            SS

        2. Soapy ,

After the debacle of these last 3 yrs our fervent wish, nee desire to be successful becomes as big a burden as the path we have tread , we are a decent team and as these few weeks have shown we could be a right good team but we are getting carried away with ourselves ,let’s just build slowly and methodically and sort out our apparent weaknesses .

I am as desperate as all of us are to have a successful side but we need to be wary , is the Scottish Cup our target me ,I’d prefer to make a decent impact in the competitions , how disappointed will we all be if this success eludes us , after the dire and turgid displays under McCoist and then McDowell then it’s fully understandable of the support to crave success.

Our new management team just shows how poor the previous incumbents really were , we are more professional , more mhedia savvy , and the thing I really like is we are more gracious to our opponents ,not this arrogance just more concerned of what WE are about rather than being concerned about them .

Although I haven’t posted in a while it is good to be back ,I thoroughly enjoy all the posters ,some more so than others .

          SO MOTE IT BE .!!!!!!!!!!

          1. Vamps,

Our desires becoming a burden is a great way of putting/describing things.

            Welcome back !

            SS

  27. I wonder if Mr Warburton will change the style of the team when the new lad from Arsenal plays as it looks like he has a free role on the footage that I have seen of him, he doesn’t seem to play in one position. I think this lad could be the best signing he has made, although it is only a loan signing. I noticed in the game yesterday a few hibs players were trying fancy moves and flicks, showboating anyone.

  28. Hi Bill, I was not at the game today, but I watched in my local.

Today i thought a lot of players were off the boil, Haliday was not as his best as were a few of them. Some of my mates were betting Rangers minus 2 goals, (do you know any skint bookies).

The football we have been playing recently has been a joy to watch, but it is not going to fall into place all the time. As you said a decent team with a good goalscorer could punish us. Are we ready yet to beat them , I don’t know, we are getting there ,but we have to walk before we run

  29. Bill ,
You sum the game up perfectly and if Hibs players had not missed two really great chances the outcome might have been different. Why the Ref never added time for time wasting way Hibs players were taking throw ins and think everybody was surprised when he blew for HT right on 45 mins.Still really enjoyed game although it took me and my Son nearly an hour to get out of the Albion Car-park. Still one thing I will say about Warburton he doesn’t do the Ally and come out and say players were great even when they lost the game.He tells it like it is and he and Tavernier both mentioned time spent on Hibs throw ins.Roll on Wednesday now and more glory!!!

  30. Spot on analysis Merlin, totally agree. Good to see that Mark himself isn’t getting carried away but I like the fact we can get results in games we would have failed to pick up a point playing just a few months ago. Defensively I sense concentration can flicker on and off and against a better team with proper strikers we would have been punished. Ultimately that may only be a problem investment can solve. Let us not dismiss the fact however that another clean sheet is another clean sheet and that has to be something to inspire confidence and be something to build on.

Fotheringham’s distribution may never be that of Ronald Waterreus (lol) and Waghorn might not be the finisher Boyd in his prime was, but they bring their own strengths they can play to and communication can improve with game time so I’m hopeful most of the issues will get masked by team ethic and understanding, at least in this league. Gers look to be an excellent team (great spirit) and the manager is in no doubt about how far some of the lads can go as footballers either, so I’m comfortable being greedy and always looking for improvement.

    1. Richlay

Hibs have the best strikers in this division, so the defence will not be further tested until such time as we encounter Hearts, Aberdeen or CFC. Our closest rivals last season are now six points off our pace. QOS have not improved as they don’t have the budget to do so. The same applies to Falkirk and Dumbarton. I’m encouraged, but not overwhelmed.

The west coast media bias is hyping our progress, while the real stars of this season are Hearts, whose success has been largely unsung. They won this division in a canter last season, but no-one expected them to top the Scottish Premiership. If our team has actually improved, as opposed to other teams going backwards, Hearts will provide a more accurate yardstick.

If we fairly assume that we are pushing against an open door for promotion, will we accept being fourth best in 2016/2017? The current underfunded board will. Being a ‘solid second’ to CFC requires investment. The £665,000 spent this year, while reducing the player budget by £2.8m, will not be sufficient to win silver next season. This season’s title and the Petrofac Training Cup will be the last glimmer we will see for some time as we are being led by a parsimonious criminal, backed by a consortium who have spent as much as they intend to. Cutting the player budget by a nett £2.135m this season has been successful, but we cannot rely on being bailed out in the close season with yet another £4.5m. The success of W&W comes at a price of £500,000, just as it would have last season if Zuckic’s contribution had led to promotion. Then there is the issue of eleven out of contract players in January.

The most encouraging aspect of this season has been the attendances. Over 49,000 yesterday and a full house at the first home game. If we did not have amateurs and criminals on our board it would surely take less that Murray’s seven years of organic growth to challenge CFC?

The excellent response of the supporters, which is far superior to all of our rivals in Scotland, might just give the auditors the level of comfort to provide a going concern green light, predicated on promotion, as it was in the last accounts. Three years of accounts is our passport to Europe, so we should anticipate Europa Cup ties in 2017/2018. The income from a successful run in this tournament, with more home full houses, should be sufficient to overtake Hearts and Aberdeen, but not CFC.

So let’s not get carried away. The real tests will come next close season. How many players will W&W have to find next year? Will a budget of less than £1m be sufficient to make a real impact in the Scottish Premiership, or are we happy to settle for fourth place?

      1. Thanks for your thoughts JJ.

“Hibs have the best strikers in this division, so the defence will not be further tested until such time as we encounter Hearts, Aberdeen or CFC.” Actually I was mindful of this but I don’t think I put it across well. It’s when we encounter the likes of those three in a cup that we could find ourselves badly undone. Without putting words in his mouth I think this is when Bill also would expect us to meet the “canny” opponents he speaks of.

Holt and Halliday prove themselves to be tidy in their use of the ball as well, but physically they are no match for players like Scott Brown who, if we meet again this season like last, I can envisage running us through again.

The attendances are fabulous but serve to keep us on life support. I am hoping the numbers inspire a coup d’etat by people with real money, acumen, legitimacy but the hostility of Level5 and their slaves to the notion of such a thing happening could yet undo us. The Masons know how to manage people, and when they’re in a big crowd it just makes the job easier a lot of the time.

Giving the manager an insufficient sum of money to spend will be of little or no use. Players who have it all, like a quick striker that is strong in the air and can finish off chances, cost millions. As will a winger that is fast, can dribble and deliver crosses. The best most teams can do in Scottish football is try and build around players with one or two important attributes. The ‘big man, little man’ striker partnership exemplifies this. Rephrased, a striker who can head the ball partnered with a striker with a turn of pace.

The amount of money required to build a top team rockets exponentially. Manchester United are happy to spend £200M a summer to watch their team finish fourth and play rather uninspired football. Only a couple of places below where they finish, a team spends comparatively nothing. As with cars, 100 horsepower to go 100 miles per hour, 200 to go 150, 500 to go 200, etc. You’ll understand this better than I do.

Rangers are getting away with spending nothing but they aren’t in the fast lane yet, still sometimes encountering amateur teams. With a little shrewd investment, we could have a team that is very competent against any other in Scotland but those who run Rangers have proven their unwillingness to spend anything at all.

        1. Richlay

With all the furore in regard to Allan and Stubbs’ eviden reticence to sell to him to Rangers, why did W&W allow last season’s player of the year to join Hibs on a free transfer? Hibs are two defenders and a goalkeeper shy of being a credible threat this season, so why solve one of their most immediate problems with one of our better players?

Cutting McGregor from the payroll is clearly penny pinching by the shyster board. The austerity by stealth continues.

Your final point, that Rangers are getting away with spending nothing, is very valid. Tavernier, Kiernan and Waghorn have spent more time on loan in their careers than time at their host clubs. They could not command any credible fees in the English lower leagues. I don’t envisage these players as being any more than a short term fix as money is inordinately tight this season. Tavernier played a season in goal in his early career. His deft touch at free kicks earned the points on Sunday.

In my tweets I engaged in a calculation of the deficit facing our club this season. King and Murray’s agitation for power almost destroyed our club. If we assume less artifice in preparing accounts than was a feature with Deloitte, the new auditor will highlight the £3m raised in equity, the £5m loan and the sale of Lewis McLeod to get us to season end and the £4.5m loans in the close season. That’s £13.5m although I expect £4.5m to be deferred to 2015/2016 accounts, even though this should not be permitted.

Our pro bono Vice Chairman stated, at NARSA, that they would sell 45,000 ST to raise £12/13m. They actually sold only 33,000. Level 5 have done their utmost to ‘mesh’ promotional ads in any article written by The Herald Group Hacks or their favoured journalists/ contributors at The Sunday Mail, but this has not had the desired result. Level5 are currently flat out promoting sales for the League Cup visit to Airdrie, which has failed to capture the imagination of the fans as it will be little more than a training exercise against a part-time team. Their invoice for delivering the shyster board has been paid.

The appointed auditor will not be able to get away with booking Rangers Retail revenue as income, as was the case in the last accounts. It was a clever device predicated on a notional 51% holding in RR. The SD loan reduced this to 25% , hence removing this artifice. Income last year was not the £25m and change in the accounts. It was actually £17.2m. If we use this as a base figure for accounts to 30 June 2015, and projections, we first of all add 11,000 more ST at just under £2m after VAT. So £19.2m revenue and expenditure north of £30m. If 16,000 fans bought tickets for every home game, at a 60/40 full price/concession mix, the deficit could be reduced to £7.3m, but this is a best case scenario. The loan players are unlikely to cost less than £1m and the bonus for promotion should be factored in, so the deficit becomes, best case scenario, circa £8.8 with an estimate of £10.5m being more realistic.

Home cup game revenue is critically important, but this is unpredictable and unlikely to deliver a full house unless Premier League opposition.

I don’t envisage ISDX accepting a convicted criminal as our chairman. However, Peterhouse/JP Jenkins could market the £40m+ shares that were authorised at the last AGM with no recourse to an exchange. Over The Counter trades. If pitched at 20p and fully subscribed, then £8m minus fees could be raised. I would anticipate at least £6m. However only £1.5m would be raised once they convert the £4.5m in loans into equity. So I don’t see this as a viable option.

The rescinding of the disapplication of pre-emption clause at the next AGM would give the board latitude to market as many shares as they see fit. With their proxy votes from RF/RST they will achieve the required majority. It would be interesting to see whether the shyster board would underwrite an OTC offer.

If this fails, then they had better have deep pockets.

          1. Mr James it will probably not surprise you that I want to test the validity of your comments again. But some I feel need to be.

”I expect £4.5m to be deferred to 2015/2016 accounts, even though this should not be permitted”.

Now I expect you fully understand the concept of ”deferred income” and what should or should not be allowed to be labelled as such. In the generality of football accounts ”deferred income” is income that was received in a trading year which is for the following trading year. Let me give you an example of this. In May/June of 2015 Rangers asked season ticket holders to renew their books. That income is received in the trading year June 14 to June 15. But is in fact income for the following season or trading year and yet received in the 14/15 season or trading year.

Now when you pay up front for services this is how it works. You can not mark them down on the ”books’ until they are actually rendered and so the wording on the accounts is ‘Deferred Income” or after each match is attended by the season ticket holder, that service is rendered and only when the last match of the season book is completed then you can lift the Deferred Income from the accounts and register them.

I suggest you look at the proper definition https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deferred_income and then use it in its proper context.

I think next I will look at the figures you have been quoting my friend, but for now I will settle for this post.

            1. john james ,yer dinners oot ,courtesy of our good friend P.Z.J.

            2. Welcome back pzj, but where does jj say the deferred amount is income – he talks about deferred loan amount?

Don’t understand why you having go at jj when bill gives him space to post – you if I remember right used to claim our enemies had additional mortgages… which turned out wrong too..

              cant you two work together?

              1. For the record, I am not the only moderator on here.

              2. GBrown, apologies to yourself and John for my unsolicited comment, but I’m sure John like a number of posters on here have followed JJ’s posts with interest, in particular his summation of Dave King’s business activities, which do quite rightly cause concern for many fans

Of late however, JJ’s posts have, in my opinion, been designed to mislead fans into believing some very deliberate mistruths surrounding ownership of the stadium and it’s made myself (and others) wonder why someone with JJ’s apparent business knowledge would post such easily dismissed and obvious nonsense, and worse, continue to promote it when even a layman could disprove it in minutes.

It’s the kind of nonsense PMG would spin to spread mistrust and fear among Rangers fans…….that rings alarm bells

P.S. John can comment with more authority than I can on Celtc’s mortgage debt provision, but they certainly carry a significant liability on their books

              3. ”you if I remember right used to claim our enemies had additional mortgages… which turned out wrong too..

Very fine quotes Mr Brown. So now I will answer you.

Now I do not know what you believe I have got wrong or misrepresented but I would certainly like you to point me what I have said wrong my good friend. Selah

            3. PZJ: High mate can I ask you if you have any thoughts on the current board and Mr King in particular , do you feel we have been lied to in regard to the NOMAD , proper investment i.e. the £30 million kids inheritance . then we had Gilligan claiming they have already invested £8 million when we know it’s loans and shares bought from other investors and lets not forget , they constantly have you believe the loans they have given are investment even though they will be repaid with equity.

I personally feel any fan ( Co Investor ) that has bought his season book has invested more directly to the club than any board member , except we don’t get £10,000 a month expenses ? What are your thoughts on King will his record hamper us going forward e,g, entering the ISDX and maybe even one day getting proper banking facilities for loans etc.

Your insights are always helpful as I myself have grave concerns going forward especially with the lack of promised money and when viewing Mr Kings interviews from pre EGM through to post EGM he has clearly lied at worst or at the very least misled us all just to gain power , I feel our position of the park is precarious unless he keeps his promises !

          2. If you would be so kind as to link me to the statement where are illustrious leader indicated we would sell 45k season tickets. Also! Let’s look at the figures… From what “I” remember the board were looking to raise 12/13m before tax. Using those numbers £350x 35000= 12.250.000. It’s not a hard equation! So why 45k?

              1. No! He states that the figure they would like to reach, not what we WOULD. Sell as stated by the aforementioned JJ

              2. Oh dear

                Deprogramming required

            1. The Scotsman article linked by Bill states that to reach the £12/13 million target (assume as before tax ?) then 45k season tickets would have to be sold. Also in the article it mentions that season ticket prices range from £312 to £53. Thus it would seem that an average price of a season ticket is – as calculated by King’s figures – either £267 (£12m) or £289 (£13m).
Applying the higher average season ticket figure of £289 x 33k = £9.5m.
Using the lower figure then £8.8m is reached.

Also, the article (dated 09 June, 2015) states that Dodgy Dave will make significant ‘investment’ within two months…………

              SS

              1. Indeed! It was an aspiration, not arrogance. The question of investment was put to him of which he responded with an inclination of need. Not would!

              2. Soapy : Logicandfacts is clearly lacking any in this promised finance debate and is learning the SNP way of deny and deflect , when he should read over some of Mr Kings old articles or watch his videos pre EGM , because from his first to the last he has went from promising £30 million plus to like for like investment.

One of the first is his Daily Mail interview were he says we will spearhead a £50 million plan using £30 million of his own money which we are still waiting on.

                http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2588429/Dave-King-commit-30m-ensure-Rangers-return-Scottish-Premiership.html

Now I have no problem in people believing in the board but blindly believing is another thing and we should be as vigilant with all who run our club regardless of who they are. So as I have said before, I personally feel any fan ( Co Investor ) that has bought his season book has invested more directly into the club than any board member , except we don’t get £10,000 a month expenses. that is a simple fact that can’t be denied , neither can Mr Kings false promises

              3. Aye but what he meant was he would if he could. He didn’t actually mean he would just that he would like to. He wasn’t talking about selling 45K season books just that he would like it to happen. You know, like cosmic ordering.

          3. “Authorisation of £40m+ Of shares” really? Link to this i have to see.

            1. Logicandfacts
I think what was posted was authorisation of 40m shares not £40+ of shares

          4. J.J.: Was it not just a rights issue that was authorized were shareholders can only apply for no more than what there current percentage is ?

This may change with the removal of the voting rights, although that may just have been done to get preference shares issued for King and co giving them double the votes compared t other shareholders like the RST and RF ! Rather than new shares to be issued !

            1. The previous issue was actually an open offer not a Rights issue.

            2. All changes would require concensus/voting, dissapplacation is not required at this time, our current portfolio is sufficient with fan ownership aspirations.

          5. I’m disgusted at our best player being allowed to just leave, for nothing. McGregor is a major coup for Hibs and they are certainly a far stronger side as a result. There should be outrage at this but what we have instead are dissenting voices drowned out by those formulating any manner of excuses for King and his band of thieves.

The board and Level5 are using the power of social media to full effect. Own the representatives and the rest are ‘bad fans’ if they don’t toe the line.

Question. Do Donkey King and the shyster board want to win the Championship? I genuinely don’t know. That lot are probably as surprised at the results so far this season as the rest of us. All I know is relatively speaking a substantial portion of the squad will disappear back to their parent club at season end or possibly any time before.

I am not averse to loan signings, don’t get me wrong. I think all the players we have are good lads and have grasped the chance to make a name for themselves. Rangers are the only show in town. But what we have is absolutely nothing going forward and it could always come apart very easily.

Clearly it has already started to come apart. Any fan can now discern this if they take their blinkers off.

As for the finance, thanks for the information. I’m aware there is disagreement from an esteemed member but it’s up to fans like myself to look at the facts and make our minds up. I will try to do thusly.

          6. Let me expand on my post from yesterday commenting on Mr James ””I expect £4.5m to be deferred to 2015/2016 accounts, even though this should not be permitted”.

In my original post I was comparing what could be deferred IE ”Income’

You can not defer a loan which was drawn down in that trading year. The 4.5 Million loans will be treated in what manner and terms agreed with the ”Lender” and Borrower.

Now what will happen if the loans are not repaid on accounts will depend what the terms of the loans are. They will be noted as either ”Current Liability” in the 14/15 accounts which means they will have to be repaid within one year or ”Non Current Liability” which means they will have a repayment term longer than one year. This will be certainly permitted and is standard practice in any accounts.

Why Mr James believes that ” this should not be permitted” I do not understand.

      2. Who is this ‘Zuckic’ you are referring to that played for us last season? And you have mentioned us releasing ‘Zaluskas’. Why would a supposed Bear not know the names of our players????

        1. Petty points. Richlay is a known bear on here.
